AFL club the Melbourne Demons will work up a sweat in Kakadu today as part of their intensive pre-season training. The boys began their nine day training camp in Darwin at Robertson Barracks – arriving in 36 degree heat and 81% humidity!

Yesterday the lads held a footy clinic just outside the park in Jabiru where locals and visitors of all ages learned some tips and showed the pros their footie skills.

But then it was back to the task of getting into prime condition. Today sees the boys grab their hydration packs and head out for a hot and humid 35 km hike at Nourlangie. Luckily, they’ll have some of the most beautiful scenery in the country to help them along.

Team captain Jack Grimes said he has been really looking forward to visiting Kakadu – which will be a highlight of their trip. What a smart guy – no wonder he’s the captain!

Look out for more news from the lads at the Melbourne Demons website.
