Learning to handle trauma

Kakadu staff practise trauma care

Australian charity Careflight brought their car crash and trauma simulators to Kakadu for an invaluable training workshop for our Kakadu rangers – we’re  often the first on the scene at an accident or visitor emergency.

Qualified doctors, paramedics and nurses trained us in patient triage, accident scene assessment and risk management, and the process for handing over patients to qualified medical personnel.

The realistic scenarios made for challenging decision making! We’re all now more confident when dealing with an incident, especially in some of our very remote spots where medical assistance can be delayed.
