The little things that delight at Kakadu

As a seasonal ranger here at Kakadu just leaving the house each morning is its own adventure – you might see crocodiles and brolgas crossing the road, meet someone from the other side of the world or learn a story thousands of years old. But it’s the little things that you come across day to day that continue to astonish and delight me.

The locals are very friendly

Sometimes too friendly!

One day what I thought was a dead tree burst into blooms of red kurrajong,

And I discovered that crocodiles love to chew toys – just like puppies. I don’t think this one squeaks, though!

Only a croc could enjoy using this stone float as a chew toy! Ouch!
