The dugout canoe at Bowali Visitor Centre will boast a water feature and local aquatic plants and animals
While the park is a little quiet we’ve been busy spring-cleaning at the Bowali Visitor Centre. We’ve repainted ceilings, sanded and varnished the lovely visitor centre desk and we’re also creating a beautiful new billabong feature with our dugout canoe.
The canoe was once used by local Binnij and was transported from the East Alligator region to the Visitor Centre. It was recently emptied and resealed, with the resident fish vacationing at the rangers’ quarters nearby!
Local plants and aquatic wildlife will be brought in to the new billabong which is expected to be complete in time for the busy tourist season when the weather cools a little.
We look forward to seeing you!
