Vulnerable visitor calls in at Booderee

Booderee ranger Roger Hart releases the green turtle in calm waters

It was lovely to be visited by a green turtle in October when one washed onto the Bherwerre beach in a rough sea.

Of course it could only be a fleeting visit from this nationally listed vulnerable species - Booderee rangers Tony Carter and Roger Hart released it in the calmer waters of Scottish rocks later that morning, keeping a close eye on its safe departure.

The turtle swam off into the waters of Booderee National Park inside Jervis Bay, probably on the lookout for a lunch of seagrasses and algae after its morning of adventures.
