Friends of the Gardens launch illustrated bird brochure

His Excellency Michael Bryce and artist Frances McMahon with the original artwork

Following on from our recent brush with HRH Queen Elizabeth, former Governor General His Excellency Michael Bryce AM AE, Patron of the Friends, launched a new bird brochure at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

Birds of the Australian National Botanic Gardens features illustrations of more than 60 birds found in the gardens. The illustrations are set against a backdrop of the various habitats within the Gardens including the Rain Forest Gully, Sydney Basin Gully, Brittle Gum Woodland, Rock Garden and Eucalypt Lawn.

The full colour illustrations, produced by Canberra artist Frances McMahon, took two years to complete.

Congratulations to Frances and the Friends on the achievement of a very beautiful brochure for our visitors.

Brochures are available at the Visitor Centre in exhange for a donation to the Friends.
