Accolades for Booderee weed work

Since the mid-1980s, Booderee park staff, Wreck Bay Aboriginal workers and volunteers have spent more than 1,000 hours removing the invasive weed sea spurge from our park beaches.

And now — together with a range of other coastal groups — they’ve been awarded a ‘highly commended’ in local government environmental awards.

Since late 2008, a steering committee has overseen control efforts, funded in part through Caring for Country – and they’ve substantially reduced this invasive weed from beaches in Booderee and from Kiama to the Victorian border.
