We’re battening down in Kakadu. Very little wind yet…but the floodplains have filled and creeks and rivers are rising. There is 30 centimetres over the Arnhem Highway – it’s likely to be completely cut off later today – and water is lapping the Nourlangie bridges on the Kakadu Highway.
Park staff helped evacuate Patonga outstations yesterday and we’re monitoring Mudginberri. Cooinda has evacuated all but essential staff. The Jabiru Local Counter Disaster committee met yesterday to make sure we’re all prepared.
