It was a spectacular and unexpected sight as I went for my morning walk along the beach at Booderee National Park - Young Endeavour and her crew were anchored off Green Patch beach in Jervis Bay. She sailed later that morning heading north to Broken Bay as part of a 10-day sail for a group of budding young mariners.
There’s always something to see at Booderee so I always have my camera. I grabbed this picture of the impressive vessel before starting work at the Visitor Centre – but I hear she sailed out of the bay with all her sails unfurled.
That would have been a great sight and a real glimpse into Australia’s colonial origins.
